Sign In with Email Link
Trace supports passwordless authentication. Instead of remembering a password, you can sign in with a one-time link sent to your email.How It Works
- On the login page, click Sign in with email link instead
- Enter your email address
- Click Send sign-in link
- Check your inbox for an email from Trace
- Click the link in the email — you’re signed in
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Email not received | Check your spam/junk folder. Ensure hello@buildwithtrace.com is not blocked. |
| Link expired | Go back to the login page and request a new link. Links expire after 10 minutes. |
| ”Invalid or expired” error | The link was already used or has expired. Request a new one. |
| Wrong email | Make sure you’re checking the inbox for the exact email address you entered. |
Security
- Each magic link can only be used once
- Links expire after 10 minutes
- The link is tied to the specific email address — it cannot be used by a different account
- If you’re signing in from the desktop app, you’ll be redirected back to the app automatically after authentication
Magic links are an alternative to password-based login. You can still use your password if you prefer. Both methods work with the same account.
