Exporting Designs

Generate manufacturing files and documentation from your Trace projects.

Gerber Files

Gerber files are the industry standard for PCB manufacturing. Export via File > Export > Gerbers.

The export includes:

Copper layers (F.Cu, B.Cu, inner layers)
Solder mask (F.Mask, B.Mask)
Silkscreen (F.Silkscreen, B.Silkscreen)
Board outline (Edge.Cuts)
Drill files (PTH and NPTH)

Bill of Materials

Generate a BOM via File > Export > BOM. The BOM includes:

Reference designators
Component values
Footprints
Quantities
Manufacturer part numbers (if specified)

Export formats: CSV, Excel, or interactive HTML.

Pick and Place

For automated assembly, export pick-and-place files with component positions and rotations. File > Export > Position Files.

3D Models

Export 3D models for mechanical integration:

STEP - For CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360)
VRML - For visualization

PDF Documentation

Generate PDF documentation including:

Schematic sheets
PCB layout views
Assembly drawings

Manufacturer Presets

Trace includes export presets for popular manufacturers:

JLCPCB
PCBWay
OSH Park
Eurocircuits

Select a preset to automatically configure layer naming and file formats for that manufacturer.

Design Rule Export

Before ordering, verify your design meets the manufacturer's capabilities. Most manufacturers provide design rules that can be imported into Trace for DRC validation.
